Lucas Shane Phillips was born in 1978, the second of five boys. Growing up in the environment of constant chaos that five young boys can create has definitely shaped his personality. By the age of ten, Luke was running heavy equipment in order to make bicycle tracks that eventually became motorcycle tracks for him and his other brothers to ride on. When left to their own devises the boys, including and especially Luke, were very ingenious in creating things to do and improve ways of doing them. This history has transferred from Luke's boyhood to his life and craft today. The ingenuity and creativeness still exists and comes into practice everyday as Luke creates his artwork.

The history of Luke's craft is extensive, starting when he was very young and continuing everyday to change. Luke worked running heavy equipment and welding for his father and as a hobby. This began at a young age and continued throughout his high school years. After completing high school, Luke moved to southern California to work for Southern California Edison as a welder, later transferring to the Mohave Generating Station. During this time he was also doing side jobs welding for people in the area on anything from broken motorcycle parts to enclosed motorcycle trailers to handrails and public projects. The creativeness and challenge being lost, Luke became bored with the monotonous work and decided to focus on his craft. This was met however with controversy beginning with the fear of failure, rejection and his parents who believed that art was not an acceptable way to make a living. As he continues working on what he loves to do he is overcoming the controversy, growing, and learning. The artwork that Luke creates reflects this and is constantly maturing. Through all this growth and coming into his own, Luke is humble to the fact that he is and always has been an artist. Luke has always had a mind that would run rampant day and night, causing lost sleep and a lack of concentration. That is until it was focused on something meaningful and imaginative, his ART.
